Product overview

2019-nCoV is a new coronavirus discovered at the end of 2019 and is highly contagious. The novel coronavirus genome encodes two overlapping polyproteins pp1a and pp1b. These proteins are necessary for virus replication and protein translation, and the active release of these proteins depends on the proteolytic process. The enzymes involved in this process are Main protease (Mpro, main protease), also known as 3C-like protease (3CL protease), can participate in hydrolysis of no less than 11 conserved sites, so in the absence of homologous analogs in the human genome, Mpro is considered is an important target.

Using crystal diffraction technology, the Mpro structure was obtained, which consists of three domains. Domain I (residues 201-303) and domain II (residues 102-184) have antiparallel β-barrel structures. III (residues 201-303) contains five α-helical clusters arranged in a roughly antiparallel globular shape, connected to domain II by a long loop region (residues 185-200). The analysis of its structure will help people's understanding of the new coronavirus and will also promote future clinical drug development.
