Myoglobin(MYO)
Product details
Product overview
Myoglobin (MYO) is a small molecule protein that stores and distributes oxygen in mammalian cells (mainly muscle cells). It is composed of a polypeptide chain and a prosthetic group heme, with a molecular weight of about 18kD and about 153 amino acids. Residues.
MYO is not a cardiac-specific marker, but it is released more rapidly than CK-MB or cTnI in myocardial infarction, and myocardial damage can be detected 2 hours after the onset of symptoms. However, the clinical value of continuous measurement of MYO in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction is limited by its short duration (24 h) and lack of cardiac specificity. Therefore, in patients with non-diagnostic ECG, the increase in myoglobin concentration within 4-8 hours after the onset of chest tightness and discomfort should not be used as the basis for diagnosis of AMI, but should be supplemented by more cardiac-specific markers, such as CK-MB. , cTnI or cTnT. However, MYO is highly sensitive. Blood collection should be done within 4 to 8 hours after the onset of the disease. A negative test for MYO can be used to rule out myocardial necrosis. Generally speaking, the normal value of MYO is <58ng/mL, and ≥58ng/mL is considered to be on the high side and is associated with the risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Three rapid detection markers of myocardial infarction: myoglobin MYO, cardiac troponin cTnI, and creatine kinase CK-MB. Myoglobin (MYO) and creatine kinase (CK-MB) are most effective for the early diagnosis (<6h) of myocardial infarction (MI), while cardiac troponin (cTnI) is highly cardiac specific and is effective for late stages of MI. Diagnosis is particularly effective. Because cTnI has the ability to identify patients with mild myocardial damage and has higher diagnostic sensitivity, it is called a mild myocardial damage marker. Although not as sensitive or specific as cTnI, CK-MB is still a very useful indicator of myocardial injury. MYO should not be used as the sole diagnostic marker to identify patients with MI, but its early manifestations are helpful in excluding myocardial necrosis.
