Product overview

IL-33 belongs to the IL-1 family and is widely present in a variety of tissue cells. As an "alarmin" or stress response cytokine, it participates in and regulates immune responses. Under normal circumstances, IL-33 exists in the nucleus and functions as a transcriptional repressor. When cells are damaged, IL-33 can be secreted extracellularly, mainly transmits signals by binding to the receptor ST2, and plays an immunoregulatory role as a cytokine.

Studies in recent years have shown that IL-33 plays an important role in cardiovascular diseases through the IL-33/ST2L/sST2 signaling network, including atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, ventricular remodeling and Heart failure, hypertension, diabetic cardiomyopathy, viral myocarditis and post-heart transplant rejection, etc. IL-33 is expressed to varying degrees in normal tissues and diseased tissues, and plays an important role in the performance of normal cell biological functions and the occurrence and development of various diseases.

Human IL-33 protein is approximately 30 kDa, contains 270 amino acids, and contains an N-terminal helix-turn-helix structure nuclear localization signal and a CIL-1 family cytokine homology domain.
